Cash Nickerson

My name is Cash Nickerson and I am a student of several martial arts.  My primary art is American Kenpo Karate.  I earned my black belt on November 5, 2005 under Sifu Rick Fowler, an eigth degree Black Belt.  This web site began as my thesis for my black belt, a requirement at my school.

Six of us tested for Black Belts back in November 2005; three for first degree and three for second degree.  One of my black belt brothers, Chuck Barron, who achieved his first degree black belt with me on November 5th, 2005, died a few weeks later November 26th, 2005.  He was sparring at our school and died of a heart attack.  All of the black belts from the school attended his memorial service.  We mourn Chuck's loss.  He was buried in his Gi wearing his black belt with pride.

Deadly Weapons

colin shubitz Colin Shubitz earned his black belt on November 5, 2005 under Sifu Rick Fowler, an eigth degree Black Belt. He is the administrator of this website.

Someone once told me that the day after you become a black belt you have to register your hands as deadly weapons. I always thought that was quite funny but it also got me thinking.

Now imagine I'm drinking at a bar one Saturday night when another patron bumps into my back causing me to spill my drink. The word 'a--hole' comes out of my mouth before I even turn and see what happened. When I do there is a man about a foot taller than me and a probably a hundred pounds heavier and he's probably had one too many because he looks really upset. His face gets close to mine and he asks me to repeat what I just said.
